Before Departure

  • Contact the vehicle owner in advance to confirm the time and place for the vehicle handover.
  • Ask the owner if bed sheets, blankets and pillows are included in the rental. If not, remember to bring your own.
  • Don’t forget to take the security deposit (usually paid in cash when you pick up the vehicle) and all important documents with you (driving licence(s), booking confirmation, ID card or passport).

Tip: To get the most out of your journey, it’s a great idea to plan in advance. Choose your route, book campsites and select activities you want to do. This will save you time during your trip.

Vehicle Handover (Pickup)

  • Take the time to examine the vehicle thoroughly with the owner. Ask them to show you how everything works and how to operate appliances and features. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and test the equipment out.
  • Fill in the Vehicle Handover form with the owner during the walkthrough. In order to guarantee complete insurance coverage, this form must be carefully filled in and signed by both parties. Keep a copy of the form and don't hesitate to take photos of any existing damage during the walkthrough.
  • Take a test drive with the owner to get a feeling for the vehicle. They can show you precisely how to operate the motorhome.

During Your Trip

  • Make sure you are aware of the dimensions (height, width, length) of the vehicle. The vehicle’s size is particularly important when approaching bridges, parking or choosing the right lane at toll booths. Be extra careful when there is a strong wind, as the wind resistance of a motorhome is much higher than a car.
  • If you decide not to stay at an official campsite or motorhome parking area, make sure you are allowed to park there or set up an overnight camp. Some countries charge hefty fines for wild camping or camping at unauthorised locations.
  • If you don’t know how something works, please refer to the vehicle’s instruction manual. If necessary, call the owner. They know their vehicle best and should be able to help you.

Vehicle Maintenance Tips:

  • Empty the grey and black water tanks every 2 to 3 days. Only dispose of waste water in designated areas.
  • Check fluids every other day (or every 500 km if you cover long distances).
  • Distribute the load in the vehicle evenly. This saves fuel and makes the vehicle safer to drive.

Vehicle Handover (Return)

  • Before you return the vehicle, make sure you have cleaned it, emptied the waste water tanks, and filled up the fresh water and fuel tank. Remember that extra fees may be charged if you do not return the vehicle in the agreed condition.
  • Examine the vehicle with the owner and fill in the Vehicle Handover Return form. Both you and the owner should sign it and keep a copy.
  • Remember to check the vehicle and make sure you take all your belongings with you.

Return Fees

As a renter, you are required to return the rented vehicle in the same condition as it was when you picked it up (i.e. clean, with a full fuel tank). If you do not return the vehicle in the agreed state, you may be required to pay extra fees. Please click the link below to familiarise yourself with the list of extra fees.
